Fraudulent Mediums Act 1951
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Fraudulent Mediums Act 1951 is a law in the UK which targets anyone claiming to be psychics, mediums, or other spiritualists who attempt to use trickery with an attempt to deceive and to make money from the deception. The 1951 act also repealed the Witchcraft Act.
There were between five and six prosecutions under this act between 1980 and 1995. Five were successful.
In 2007 a petition against revising the Fraudulent Mediums Act was started in light of the Act being repealed in April 2008.
